The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours once a year in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.

Nottinghamshire County Council and Veolia Environmental Service (Nottinghamshire County Council’s Waste Contractors) are proud to be hosting Three Big Lunches in 2014, the third Big Lunch will be at Bridge Park in West Bridgford.

The ‘Love Food Hate Waste’ Feed the 1,000 Challenge will form part of the Big Lunch and shows how one thousand people can be fed on the average amount of food a family wastes a year – £700. This event is open to all Nottinghamshire residents. Entry is free and the thousand lunches will also be provided free of charge.
